6/28/2010 - We Have A Chance To Repeal Obamacare

Recently, Congressman Steve King (R-IA) filed a discharge petition as the first process to repeal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. A discharge petition is a way of bringing a bill to the floor without the consent of the Speaker or the approval of committee.  If this petition receives 218 signers, then it would force Speaker Pelosi to bring this repeal-H.R. 4972- to the House floor for a vote.

Rep. King’s petition currently has 89 signers since it was introduced on June 16. The first initial vote on Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act H.R. 3590 was 219-212 with 34 Democrats voting with a unanimous Republican contingent. In order for the petition to receive 218 signers, six representatives who voted in favor of the initial bill would have to sign the repeal petition. If all 218 signers then voted for the repeal, Obamacare would be revoked.

Call your representatives and ask them to sign Rep. Steve King's discharge petition on H.R. 4972, and work to get others to do the same.
